thanksgiving

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving
and into His courts with praise.
Be thankful unto Him, and bless His name.
For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting;
and His truth endures to all generations.  Psalm 100:4-5

I almost feeling like I should apologize for "more fall pictures" but I won't.  I know some of my lovely friends&sisters like to enjoy this time of year through the camera lens because they are in other places (for instance, deserts or the deep South), and do not get to experience first hand the autumn colors.  So, I keep blogging these (this is quite possibly the last) fall pictures because I can't help myself; it is my favorite time of year, and because I do want to share my little bit of God's beautiful world, with you.

In these harvest days, the leaves on the trees turn different colors, fall to the ground, and after a while they get gloriously crunchy.  Seth and I walked on the edge of the road today so we could hear the crispiness.  The smell that comes up from these dry leaves is sweet and earthy, a distinct smell all it's own.

I do enjoy the color combinations that God Himself designed into nature.

Brown and deep Yellow

I looked for a long time at the tree (in the left-hand background) and the pink of these leaves.

Beige, Gray, and Dusky Pink

Pink and Green

This next sight was fun.  It stopped me in my tracks again (the children are SO patient!)......

A single red leaf surrounded by pinks and greens.  All arranged and designed, seemingly just for me!

One of our neighbor's artful front stoop:  six potted mums, a birdbath, and a bright blue milk jug

(sitting here, wondering if I should anonymously print this out and pop it into their mailbox? with a note saying their decorations were appreciated?)  would that be weird?

street curb

street curb plus a cute boy

On our way home we found our cat.  He is a prowler.......we find him all over.  The other day he was in the neighbor's cabbage patch watching birds on the other end of the road. His territory is the whole neighborhood, apparently.

His name is Spot.  My grandpa gave him to me when he was still alive and living in the old farmhouse.

Seth got all tired out on the walk, though you wouldn't think it possible.  He said, "MOM.  When we get home I AM GOING TO NEED A BREAK."

(I might add, "to tire him out" is one of the purposes of these almost-daily walks).

Sarah Joy was along, but she was in her stroller until we got home.   I unbuckled her and then she got to play in the leaves, too.

"Then lift up the head with a song!

And lift up the hand with a gift!

To the ancient Giver of all

The spirit in gratitude lift!"

Amelia A Barr

I say give them the picture. I'd love that. I'd frame it and tell people about that time my sweet neighbor took a picture and gave it to me.

I think there can't ever be too many fall photos.

As one from the "deep south", I thank you for posting every single Fall picture! Such beautiful colors are wonderful to see. Our temps are to fall soon, so things will quickly start changing looks around here.

I'm thinking your neighbors would enjoy knowing you noticed their decorations....I would!

I absolutely love the shot of the one red leaf!  This is a lovely post, and I'm sure the kids had fun playing in the leaves.

never enough fall photos. i have always wanted to see autumn in new england so this way, i get to! keep sharing! tim and i walked outside here in central pennsylvania yesterday and i said, "the air smells like crunchy leaves." i would LOVE if someone anonymously printed a photo of my front stoop and tucked it in my mailbox. not weird at all.

This post is so restful and beautiful, like your posts always are.  LOVE the photo with the red leaf.   Winter seems to have arrived early here in Alberta, so I'm happy with hearing fall stories.  And I agree with the others....print up that photo and give it to your neighbors.

I think giving them the picture would be such a treat for them. Never pass the opportunity, however small, to do something kind like that. I would be delighted to receive something like that from a neighbor! Seth is so darn cute! I love, love fall and I admire all your beautiful pictures. Fall is one of the reasons I love living in the pacific northwest. Beautiful falls! :) Sweet little Sarah!

love all your fall shots! I think you should totally do the 'picture in the mailbox' thing. Personally if someone did it to me, I'd think it was really funny :)

Don't stop! We love your Fall photos, well you know, I am a fan all the time , but your neighborhood is magical this time of year. And yes, that would be so fun to know someone enjoyed the decorations. The cute kiddos just add to the photos. Throwing leaves is a simple pleasure!

Your children are SO SWEET ! Your little boy, especially. I have a 5-year-old brother who,I am almost positive, is out to drive me NUTS.But he is so sweet v (sometimes, haha) so it's hard to be mad at him. Especially since he lost his two (top) front teeth and he cut his own hair so M had to shave his head, and now he looks like a Jack-O-Lantern (or, Seb-O-Lantern) :)

I LOVE Fall and the pictures you have posted capture the colors SO well ! Especially the one red surrounded by the pink ! The contrast is lovely !This is like me-- and the only reason I love Winter is the birdies, hopping in the snow...especially the cardinal, his red contrasting against the snow so brilliantly.
I have 8 maple trees in my yard, one of the MANY reasons why j'dore Autumn !

Have a lovely week !
xoxo

PS the mailing-the-picture thing is a good idea but it may be better to do it in person, or not at all...may come off a bit creepy unless you know the neighbors REALLY well

xoxo,
Anastasia

PPS
Your cat is HUGE! How long is he ?!?

XOXO,
Anastasia

I never get tired of seeing your fall pictures! These are beautiful! I especially like the ones of Seth and Sarah tossing leaves, and the one of Sarah by the tree.

My vote is ABSOLUTELY give your neighbor a copy! I love the way you see things through your camera and she might realize just how good her decorations look! LOL. :)

It's beautiful here in GA, too, right now! I am just LOVING all these fall colors and the crunching of leaves. I love seeing the decorations and participating in local festivities.

I love the photos of the children throwing the leaves... maybe I can get one of Aiden while he's in action these weekend ;) His favorite part of the season so far is raking with his daddy, lol.

I bet they would love to know how much their decorations brought a smile to your face. Why not sign your name and leave your house number?

Love the pictures of the kids playing and the joy on their faces- you are a very blessed Mama.
