celebrating the season

Give a nature lover a camera in New England and that person will take endless photos.

I have a lot of pictures to share with you today; hoping that the very small glory of them will grow into a deeper delight into the very magestic glory of our awesome God-creator of all.

My friend Mary takes myriads of photos of the California sea, each one breathtaking.

From the other side of the USA, I will show you pictures of the leaves.  heart

“I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.”  l.m. montgomery, in anne of green gables

On Friday, I met my friend Kathy at Old Sturbridge Village (a history reenactment place).  The drive there was pleasantly distracting.  After days of rain, on this morning the sun was out beautifully.  By the time we arrived, I was seriously craving a hot apple cider.

With hot drinks in hand, we strolled through the village chasing our toddlers over carpets of crunchy leaves.

"The leaves are all falling, and they're falling like
they're falling in love with the ground.”   A. Gibson

**********************************************

When we got back home, I put Seth and Sarah to bed for naps and went outside.

I sat by the pond and enjoyed a pumpkin muffin and pumpkin spice coffee with my new friend crawling around in the leaves under the picnic table.

Celebrating the season with books;

Even my chickens have beautiful red leaves to look at.

At this moment, they were more interested in the prospect of a treat.  Alas, I don't share coffee or muffins.

(A glimpse of our house)

Ordinary riches can be stolen,

real riches cannot.

In your soul are infinitely precious things

that cannot be taken from you.

Oscar Wilde

My children have another day off from school today.  If it's anything like yesterday we will be eating apples, tossing the football around, baking cookies, digging in dirt, hanging off the monkey bars, collecting leaves, drinking hot chocolate, and playing games.  All with just enough sibling rivalry to keep things interesting.

Happy day, friends!

You really do have a gorgeous fall there right now! We haven't started the big turn of leaves yet, but I can't wait.

Can I come hang out at your house? It sounds like a pretty fun place to be.

Thank you for this, SUCH a treat! One of the things I miss most about my time spent living back East is the fall...all those beautiful colors. Love the quotes--->I am always reading along, even if I don't always comment :) xoxo

Beautiful pictures! Love the shot of the chickens :) what a wonderful place to raise a family. I've always wanted to visit that area. I've lived in the Pacific Northwest my entire life - but someday we'd like to visit New England.

So gorgeous up there!! I love all the photos and I esp love the low stone fence and gate.... that just speaks to my soul! I hope to have a garden inside an area such as that.

This post filled my heart. Such beauty, and your words, and the quotes express it all so well. The village looked fun, and Seth is KING of that woodpile!

You look wonderful, and I like thinking of you eating your muffin, drinking coffee, and reading those books. I want to peek in the Tasha Tudor one I was reading a catalog yesterday and saw a yummy sweater I thought would look good on you. It was a happy thought.

Thanks, Shanda! Just what I wanted to look at today after I finished posting pics of our beautiful spring (Springing Through the Fence). I have heard that your colors are especially beautiful this year. One day I would like to visit you in autumn. Hugs to you!

Yes, I too had to do a double take with the photo of you - thought it was Grace for a minute :)
For some reason, I'm savoring Fall and all the rich colors more this year - sometimes life's circumstances can(or we allow it to) blind us to the beauty around us in nature.
Your home seems so full of love, laughter, fun - oh, I pray for more of that in ours. I sense your enthusiasm for life, nature, your children - it's contagious. :)

@purpleamethyst76 -  I might just have to send you the pic from the catalog. I couldn't find the sweater on-line. It is kind of pear colored with flowers and seed beads on it. It is from j.jill. They have some other embroidered sweaters that are pretty too, but this one just made me think of you
