just a few quotes

I am currently reading a book titled Life in Jesus.  It is a book about a Christian woman, written after her death, by her son, Octavious.  He wrote his own thoughts about his mother, but he mostly used material from her correspondence and diary.   The book is not about Mary Winslow (who was born in 1774 and died in 1854) so much as it is about a personal relationship between a woman and her Savior, Jesus Christ.  For that, I am extremely thankful and encouraged.  It is a blessing to see such a biography, and by reading her private thoughts and letters, written by her without the slightest notion of "being published", I am being taught by the example of another one's humble life in Christ.  An abundant and deeply satisfying life in Him is available to all, and should be the desire of everyone who has accepted Him as Savior and Lord.

Hey, this is Tamera. I know you get a lot of traffic on your blog. Could you visit my blog real quick. There is a family in need, and I'm hoping to help them get as much coverage as possible. This family is in need of a headstone for their little girl that was taken by a drowning accident. I hope you know me enough that I wouldn't do this if I didn't feel such a pull. If you could, maybe post it on your blog as well. If not, I totally understand. Peace and Blessings, Tam = )

That book sounds wonderful.  Sounds like Mary would have been a great "mother" to many of us.  Great person to sip tea with on the porch and glean from her knowledge.

Where did you purchase that book? I do see them online, but don't know if there is a better place to buy?

@srheam - Hello!  I ordered it from amazon, but if you click (in the post) the title of the book, there is a scanned copy of the entire book online.  At least that way you can read some of it and decide whether or not it's worth buying for your own personal library.  Have a lovely afternoon ~ Shanda

Beautiful Shan!  So much of our life is "published".  I was convicted about that a little.  Published or not it is still amazing that God can use us to glorify Him.  Love you, Lish

I LOVE the berries in that nest, I have a nest with little red berries in it in my living room, it is so special to me because someone I love so very much gave it to me, she is a missionary in India now.

I know the name of this author I am sure I have read about her before and am eager to read the book myself, the first quote...oh it is so much what i have been feeling, I have been praying/begging the Lord to make truly honest, psalm 51:6, and Psalm 32:2 (what joy for..those whose lives are lived in complete honesty) just grab me every time. but the quote also talks about humility, we are nothing, less than nothing and He is everything and yet we forget and try to make ourselves bigger than we are....thanks Shanda for inspiring me today!

What???!!!! Another new book??? How did you know I was looking for new reading material, Shanda!!!! LOL I've copied down the info. I order from Amazon, too. And, I normally check to see if a used book (like new) costs less with its $3.99 shipping, compared to the new price with free shipping. Thanks for explaining the new scan version from Amazon works. I saw that option the other night, but didn't try clicking on it.

What do you do with your old (read) books? I pass most of mine on to friends, and keep a few. I couldn't possibly keep everything I read . . . not without a dedicated room, lined with shells, as a home library!!!
